I’m James Hallman. Since founding WriteWorks in 2009, I’ve worked with authors on the questions that matter: what belongs in the book, what needs developing, and how to say it in a voice that feels like their own. Fiction authors are welcome, too.

A useful edit does more than correct mistakes. It asks whether the reader has enough information to follow an argument, whether a scene earns its place, and whether the book is repeating itself instead of moving forward.

My background in editing, teaching, knowledge management, and business and technology helps me work with authors whose ideas are complex—and whose readers need a clear way into them.

I’ll review your inquiry and discuss the material needed to understand the project, such as a sample or outline.
